Naukuchiatal: Where the Clouds Brush the Peaks

The moment I stepped into Naukuchiatal, the first thing that caught my breath was the greenery — dense, rich, and alive. The vegetation spilled down the hillsides, embracing the slopes until they melted into distant peaks. Above, the sky was a shifting palette of grey, with clouds drifting lazily yet purposefully, their slow moving forms cloaking the valleys in a soft haze.

From the balcony of my cottage — built with sturdy iron beams and wooden planks, its roof in an inverted V shape — I soaked in a panoramic view that felt painted for the soul. The entire structure sat on a platform, slightly elevated as if it wanted to float above the earth. In the gentle drizzle, I sat on the iron swing, watching the raindrops bead on the leaves. There was also a sitting place under a shade, a giant umbrella for moments when you wanted to be part of the rain without getting drenched.
